Report: Ex-Notre Dame QB Everett Golson returning to school this month
Former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson will be readmitted to the university on Dec. 13, coach Brian Kelly told ESPN's Matt Fortuna.
In May, Golson was dismissed for the fall semester due to a flagrant violation of the school's honor code. The quarterback told SI.com's Andy Staples in October that the violation resulted from "poor judgment on a test."
Asked by Staples if he'd cheated on a test, Golson said, "Yeah, something like that."
Kelly told ESPN that Golson will return to campus around the middle of December.
"I've been assured that based upon all of the information that has been provided that he's going to be readmitted on Dec. 13, and that information has been provided to admissions," Kelly, on a media tour to promote VIZIO's BCS Fan Throwdown contest, told ESPN.com. "It's just a matter of them sending out the admittance letter and then being back on campus sometime around the 15th of December."
As a redshirt freshman in 2012, Golson led the Fighting Irish to the BCS title game, where they lost to Alabama 42-14. He started 12 of 13 games, throwing for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns, with six interceptions. Golson completed 58.8 percent of his passes and finished the season with a 131.0 quarterback rating. He was also a rushing threat, gaining 298 yards and scoring six touchdowns on the ground.Tommy Rees
