McCoy burst on the scene last season, setting an NCAA freshman-record with 29 touchdowns. But five games into this season, McCoy has already thrown more interceptions (9) than he threw all last season (7).

Jarett Dillard, WR
Dillard got back on track with two touchdown catches against Southern Miss this week, but his '07 numbers (21 catches for 268 yards and three TDs) are still a long way from his ridiculous '06 campaign (91 catches for 1,247 yards and 21 TDs).

Branden Ore, RB
Ore was first-team All-ACC last year, when he rushed for 1,137 yards and 16 touchdowns. He hasn't reached 100 yards in a game this season. Virginia Tech's offense is sputtering with such minimal production from Ore.

Willie Williams, LB
When he enrolled this fall, Williams was supposed to bring playmaking ability to a suspect defense. Instead, he was recently dismissed from the team for marijuana possession, and had been unproductive in three games before that.

Antone Smith, RB
After three seasons of waiting, Smith has finally gotten the chance to live up to his hype as Florida State's feature back. Through the first four games, though, he's rushed for just 235 yards while averaging a modest 3.6 yards per carry.

Willie VanDeSteeg, DE
VanDeSteeg entered this season as the Big Ten returning leader in sacks (with 10 in '06), making 2007 a potential breakout year for him. But VanDeSteeg has managed just one sack in Minnesota's first five games.

John Sullivan, C
Coming into this year, many publications ranked Sullivan as the top-rated center in America. The Irish offensive line has struggled mightily, though, and Sullivan is not exempt from criticism.

Juice Williams, QB
Even with the upstart Illini off to a surprising 4-1 start, their quarterback has not been getting the job done. Illinois coach Ron Zook claims Williams' starting role is safe, but backup QB Eddie McGee has been receiving legitimate playing time.

Jack Ikegwuonu, CB
Granted Ikegwuonu has been injured, but during his time on the field, he hasn't performed very admirably. Ikegwuonu is supposed to be one of the nation's top corners, but he left much to be desired in Wisconsin's game against Washington State.

Anthony Morelli, QB
Morelli rampaged through the first three games of the season ... against Florida International, Notre Dame and Buffalo. But the senior signal-caller has been exposed since Penn State started Big Ten play.
