College football odds: Florida an underdog at Tennessee for Saturday

The Florida Gators have won 11 straight games against the Tennessee Volunteers, can they make it 12 in a row in Week 4? Check out the odds and betting trends for Saturday’s matchup.

The Florida Gators are 11-0 straight up and 6-3-2 against the spread in their last 11 games against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Gators hope to extend that winning streak to 12 games with an outright upset in Knoxville this Saturday.

Florida is a 6.5-point road underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 11 games played in Week 4, the Gators are 10-1 straight up.

Fueled by its elite defense last season, Florida got off to a surprising 10-1 straight up and 7-4 against the spread start before finishing the season on an 0-3 straight up and 1-2 against the spread skid. The Gators managed just eight points per game in those three losses and only 23.2 points per game on the season.

College football Week 4 odds: Betting lines for biggest matchups

So far this season, Florida is off to a 3-0 SU and 1-2 ATS start, outscoring its opponents 101-14. But facing Massachusetts, Kentucky and North Texas at home is a lot different than Tennessee on the road.

The Gators are just 1-9 SU in their last 10 games as an underdog of six points or more with a 5-5 ATS record over that stretch per the OddsShark College Football Database.

The Volunteers have been relatively underwhelming through the first three games of the season, needing overtime to defeat Appalachian State at home and beating Ohio last week by only nine as a 27-point favorite. But at the Bristol Motor Speedway against Virginia Tech., Tennessee showed signs of brilliance on offense in the 45-24 win.

The Volunteers will need much more of that level of play facing Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M and Alabama in their next four games. Tennessee is 1-5 ATS in its last six Week 4 games.

The total in Saturday's Florida vs. Tennessee matchup is set at 43.5 points. The OVER is 5-1 in the last six games between these two SEC East rivals.

Florida's defense hasn't been tested against top teams this season, but it has passed the eye test in three tune-up games allowing only 4.7 points per game. With starting quarterback Luke Del Rio out with a sprained MCL this week, the unit will need to keep Tennessee's offense in check to keep the Gators within reach of an upset.
