College football odds: OSU a heavy road favorite vs. Michigan State

The meetings between Ohio State and Michigan State have been very hard-fought in recent years, but 2016 could be an exception. Here's a full betting preview for Saturday's game.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 17–1 straight up and 10–8 against the spread in their last 18 games played in the month of November. The Buckeyes are a big favorite to pick up another November win this Saturday on the road against the Michigan State Spartans.

Ohio State is a 22-point betting favorite in East Lansing at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The road team is 7–0 ATS in the last seven games between the Buckeyes and Spartans.

Inconsistency has been a problem for this young Buckeyes team in 2016, but if the last two weeks are any indication, Ohio State could be peaking at the right time. The Buckeyes have earned back-to-back 62–3 victories, first at home against Nebraska and then last week on the road against the Maryland Terrapins.

Bowl Projections: Two Big Ten teams enter College Football Playoff after Week 11

With a 9–1 SU and 6–4 ATS record heading into the final two games of the regular season, the Buckeyes could be headed for the playoff, but would need help to win the Big Ten East since Penn State owns the tiebreaker between the two teams.

The Buckeyes are 9–3 SU and 7–4–1 ATS in their last 12 games against the Spartans per the OddsShark College Football Database. The last six games in this series have been more even, with both teams going 3–3 SU and ATS.

NIESEN: Ranking the most exciting potential playoff matchups

Michigan State crushed lowly Rutgers 49–0 last Saturday, but it was too little too late in what has been a disastrous season for the Spartans. The win broke an 0–7 SU and 1–6 ATS losing streak to bring the team's record to 3–7 SU and 4–6 ATS on the year.

With the final two games of the season coming against two of the Big Ten's best in Ohio State and Penn State, the Spartans could have trouble improving on their 2–5 ATS record in their last seven games against conference opponents.

Major shuffle at top of Power Rankings after chaotic Week 11

The total for Saturday's game is set at 55 points on the college football lines. The OVER is 4–1 in Ohio State's last five road games.

This will be Michigan State's final home game of the season, so effort shouldn't be an issue for the Spartans. Ohio State could easily blow the Spartans away with their best effort, but the game might end up being closer if the Buckeyes get caught looking ahead to next week's showdown against Michigan.
