Alabama appears to be on the verge of being even more short-handed at a position in which depth was already a concern.

Junior tight end Kedrick James has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound James has played in 10 career games, but without any receptions. Fans got a taste of his potential during A-Day when he turned a short catch into a 29-yard touchdown.

James was suspended for an NCAA-rules violation prior to the College Football Playoff, and is slated to miss four more games along with offensive lineman Deonte Brown.

Should James depart, Alabama will be down to Miller Forristall, Major Tennison, Michael Parker, freshman Jahleel Billingsley and converted linebacker Cameron Latu at the position.’s Matt Zenitz was first to report James' name in the portal.
