Alabama’s defensive line practices together for first time this fall
Alabama got back to the grind on Tuesday.
Conditions for the final practice before the start of the fall semester were partly cloudy and 92 degrees with a heat index of 100. The players were in full pads.
Freshman Christian Harris was wearing a knee brace and limited. Reporters got to see a nickel package that included Shane Lee at interior linebacker.
For the first time this fall the first-team defensive went through drills together as freshman nose tackle DJ Dale (knee) and junior defensive end LaBryan Ray (ankle) were back lined up with senior Raekwon Davis.
Landon Dickerson was at center next to redshirt freshman Emil Ekiyor Jr. at guard for a drill, working ahead of Chris Owens and Matt Womack.
Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Stephon Wynn (ankle) is still out and Antonio Alfano didn’t participate in individual drills.
Alabama is still being a little cautious with junior linebacker Terrell Lewis and senior Anfernee Jennings.
Redshirt freshman Jerome Ford (ankle) was absent.
Tight end Giles Amos appeared to be limited.
With classes starting the team will settle into its regular practice routine on Wednesday.
• Redshirt junior cornerback Nigel Knott: The only player yet to practice, he’s out indefinitely with what Nick Saban has only described as a medical issue.
• Senior interior linebacker Josh McMillon: Out indefinitely with a knee injury, could miss entire season.
• Freshman running back Trey Sanders: Out indefinitely with a left foot injury, could miss entire season. He’s been riding an exercise bike in Alabama’s weight room during practices.
