Nick Saban disciplined for outburst by highest power in this case, Miss Terry
There's getting summoned to the league office, and then there's dealing with his wife, affectionately known as Miss Terry.
Nick Saban might have rather dealt with the league office this week.
The Alabama coach had to laugh when confessing to reporters on Wednesday that after being flagged for a personal foul against Duke, and the broadcast caught some of the colorful language he used with the Big Ten officiating crew, he was penalized more than just the yards in the game.
On the play in question, Alabama was issued a sideline warning when the person holding the turnover belt jumped out in celebration following the interception by senior cornerback Trevon Diggs near the end of the third quarter.
He thought the Crimson Tide had already been flagged. It hadn't ... yet.
"Miss Terry made me run on the treadmill for 20 minutes," he said. "The [team] leadership had a meeting and they wanted to implement disciplinary action. But it kind of got overruled.
"But I'm not proud of it, and I really am not. In all honesty, there was somebody in the white. It wasn't a player. It was a coach. I thought they were upset because the players were celebrating a good play. That sort of fueled my reaction. It is what it is. I'll learn from it like the players learn from their mistakes."
