• Nick Saban on being inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame: “It’s a fantastic honor for me. It’s a very humbling thing to get some of these things because so many people contributed to any success that we’ve ever had anywhere we’ve ever been and certainly we had a great team of people at LSU and a great coaching staff and a lot of players that did a wonderful job. I feel that when you get an honor like this you’re really just kind of accepting it on behalf of all those folks.”
• Bryant-Denny Stadium was illuminated in blue lights for an hour Wednesday night to honor Tuscaloosa police officer Dornell Cousette, who was shot and killed Monday night.
• A day after being named the Maxwell Offensive Player of the Week, Tua Tagovailoa received another national honor as the Davey O'Brien Foundation's Quarterback of the Week. Tagovailoa is tied for first in both touchdown passes (12) and points responsible for (78). He also ranks among the nation's top 10 in total quarterback rating (2nd, 95.5), passing efficiency (3rd, 213.4), passing yards (6th, 1,007), completion percentage (6th, .769) and total offense (10th, 347.7).

• Alabama women's golfer senior Kenzie Wright finished tied for eighth with a 2-under par 214 (71-71-72) to lead the No. 24 Crimson Tide the Annika Intercollegiate at Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. The Crimson Tide also placed eighth at the prestigious event to kick off the season, with a 54-hole team total of 881 (295-294-292). Wright had a team-leading 13 birdies and led the tournament field on par-3 averages (2.92) on the week.
• Terry Saban was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the welding and GED classroom additions at the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center, which the Nick’s Kids Foundation helped build.
• ESPN had a pair of interesting stories that Crimson Tide fans may want to check out. Chris Low did a behind-the-scenes look at Lane Kiffin's lone year at Tennessee, and Vaughn McClure and Mike Wells did an in-depth look back at Julio Jones' first career NFL touchdown
• Remember those reports that HBO wanted to include Alabama in a Hard Knocks-style limited series called 24/7 College Football? The four college teams that will be featured were finally announced: Florida, Penn State, Arizona State and Washington State.

On this date in Crimson Tide history:
September 19, 1953: Alabama announced that Maury Farrell and John Forney would handle the play-by-play action on the Alabama football network with some 26 stations across the state airing the games live each week. Except for the years he had been in the army, Farrell had been the play-by-play man for Alabama since 1938. This would be Forney's first year on the broadcast team.
