Injury update: Justin Eboigbe questionable for Duke game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. —Although the University of Alabama football team lost a couple of players to long-term injuries during fall camp, the only other regular player who is considered questionable for the season-opener against Duke is freshman defensive lineman Justin Eboigbe.

"Justin has a foot injury that is not a long-term injury,” Nick Saban said. “He's kind of day-to-day. I would say he's probably questionable for this game."

Redshirt sophomore Hunter Brannon is also out with an undisclosed injury. Redshirt junior Deonte Brown will miss four games while completing his NCAA suspension from the College Football Playoff.

Senior interior linebacker Josh McMillon (knee) and freshman running back Trey Sanders (foot) are both out indefinitely, possibly for the whole season. Redshirt junior cornerback Nigel Knott is out indefinitely as well and has yet to practice this fall (medical condition).

The injury update came in conjunction with the release of Alabama’s initial depth chart. Freshman Christian Harris is listed in McMIllon’s former spot at weakside linebacker. He’s one of four true freshman listed as a starter, with another 13 listed overall including Eboigbe.

"Well he’s a very aggressive player and sometimes you have to make decisions with young players even though they may not have the total understanding of doing everything exactly like you’d like for them to do it." Saban said about Harris. "Their ability to make plays and their sort of want to in terms of learning how to do it and developing is going to allow them to make the improvement they need to make to be the most consistent player.

"We just felt like after two scrimmages the way he played that he was the guy that would give us the best change long term to develop at that position. We still like some other guys. There is still some competition at the position and we will continue to evaluate that."

Alabama is set to play Duke on Saturday in Atlanta.
