Maven announces deal to license and operate Sports Illustrated

The Maven Coalition announced that it has entered into a long-term partnership with Authentic Brands Group (ABG) to license and operate the Sports Illustrated media business, which was recently acquired by ABG.

Maven also announced that Ross Levinsohn, former senior executive from Fox and Yahoo!, has agreed to become the CEO of what will soon be named Sports Illustrated Media.

The agreement, which was finalized Friday, runs through 2029. Maven will operate the digital and print editions of Sports Illustrated (including all special interest issues and the swimsuit issue) and Sports Illustrated for Kids, develop new digital media channels under the Sports Illustrated brands and operate certain related businesses, including without limitation, special interest publications, video channels and books.

Per ebiz, is the fifth most-popular sports website in the United States, with an estimated 20 million unique visitors this month.

BamaCentral has been a partner in the Maven Coalition since its inception last July.

The move came on the heels of last week's announcement that Maven had acquired the financial news outlet, TheStreet, Inc., joining the likes of History, Maxim, Yoga Journal, and Ski Magazine.
