Nick Saban issues statement on status of Joshua McMillon

Senior interior linebacker will have knee surgery, ruled out indefinitely

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama football coach Nick Saban issued a statement on senior interior linebacker Joshua McMillion, updating his injury status following Saturday’s scrimmage.

“Josh McMillon suffered an injury to his right knee Saturday that will require surgery and keep him out for an indefinite period. We have a great medical staff here and he will have the full support of everyone in the organization as he goes through the rehab process. We are confident Josh will make a full recovery.”

Although Saban didn’t go into specifics, McMillon is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2019 season.

He could petition the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility.

Overall, McMillon has played in 22 career games, and last season was credited with 14 tackles, including one for a loss.

The redshirt senior was in position to start alongside junior Dylan Moses before sustaining the injury at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“Well he came in eager to learn like each and every player freshman year,” McMillon said about Moses last week. “People come here and try to do their best to try and get on the field as early as possible. It just prepares those guys to do the best they can do.

“Don’t get down on yourself because it is a big play book and everybody has different challenges. So I just encourage them to do their best and make sure they keep their head up and push through.”
