Another SEC series loss for Team 27.

No. 13 Alabama Softball dropped the series finale against No. 3 Tennessee, 7-5, on Sunday afternoon at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville.

The Crimson Tide (24-10, 2-4 SEC) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning before allowing seven unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings.

Alabama pushed back in the fifth, scoring three — but it wasn't enough.

RHP Montana Fouts struggled for the second time this weekend on Sunday, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks in just 2.2 innings. Only two of the runs were earned, however.

The Crimson Tide made two costly errors in the field.

Six different Alabama batters recorded a hit. Kenleigh Cahalan and Bailey Dowling both hit home runs. Ally Shipman and Ashley Prange both doubled.

But the pitching and defense wasn't there.

With the win, the Lady Volunteers (26-2, 8-1 SEC) took the three-game weekend set — marking the second conference series loss in two tries for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama will stay on the road next weekend, traveling to Columbia to take on the last-place Missouri Tigers.
