Report: Eyabi Anoma currently not enrolled at Alabama
Sophomore linebacker Eyabi Anoma, a leading candidate to have a breakout season, is reportedly not currently enrolled at the University of Alabama.
Associate Vice President for Communication Monica Watts confirmed to the Tuscaloosa News that Anoma is “currently not attending classes."
Anoma is not allowed to participate in team activities, including the start of training camp next week, if he's not enrolled and taking classes. The summer sessions are due to conclude August 3, with the fall semester set to start August 21.
Last season the reserve edge rusher, who had been hailed as a 5-star recruit, earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors from the league coaches while making nine tackles including two for a loss and a quarterback hurry. He submitted his name into the NCAA transfer portal for a day in February, but followed with a strong spring.
"He's doing a good job," Nick Saban said in March. "He's working hard. He's learning a lot. I think he's responding very well to Sal [Sunseri], with Sal coaching him. He's doing much better in school. Being responsible and trying to do the right things and respond to people the right way. He's certainly making a very positive contribution to the defense. I certainly think that's our expectation for him and if he continues this way I'm sure he's going to make a huge impact."
