It’ll be one of the hot topics during SEC media days next week, which teams are best suited at the quarterback position.

There’s the top two, on the teams that are the clear favorites to play for the league championship, but the real debate will be about who’s third.

That doesn’t mean that someone else can’t crash the top of the list for All-SEC consideration at the end of the year, like Clemson transfer Kelly Bryant at Missouri or third-year starter Jake Bentley at South Carolina. They’ll just be hard-pressed to finish first- or second-team when it comes to All-SEC honors.

Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa finished second for the Heisman Trophy during his first year as a starter, and has all of his top wide receivers back. He was 245-of-355 for 3,966 yards, 43 touchdowns and six interceptions, while setting the NCAA single-season record for passer efficiency.

Georgia’s Jake Fromm was 206-of-306, 2,749 yards, 30 touchdowns, and six interceptions last year. Like Tagovailoa he has a new play-caller. There’s a lot of speculation in Athens that James Coley will have the Bulldogs throwing more.

Kellen Mond threw for 3,107 yards last season, and ran for 474 more during the first year of the Jimbo Fisher era at Texas A&M. He passed for 330 yards during the second half vs. Clemson.

Feleipe Franks went from throwing for 1,438 yards to 2,457 during his first year with Dan Mullen as head coach at Florida. His passer rating also went from 113.3 to 143.4.

However the player to keep an eye on is Joe Borrow at LSU. He threw for 2,984 yards during his first season with the Tigers, which has since added new passing game coordinator Joe Brady. Consequently, there’s a lot of optimism in Baton Rouge.
