Fire Robbins, heeke, sumlin immediately
Heeke got a 1 year extension and a one hundred thousand $ raise. Someone likes him.
Actually, there are some observers who think this move by Robbins is a strengthening of Heeke's position vis a vis should he have to make a move on Sumlin.
I don't think Sumlin realistically could be let go financially, unless for cause.
But his buyout goes down to 7.5 million in January. His salary also goes up to 3.5 Million in January, from 2 million.
Heeke just got a baffling extension and Sumlin is back for at least one more year.
I agree...mostly because of how badly they have handled Sean Miller. The Sumlin choice looked good on paper. Due diligence may have been lacking, but it sure seemed like the right hire. I am more forgiving of them for that...although they need to fix it.
The curious case of Arizona's receivers
Arizona’s passing game was up and down against Hawaii. They threw for over 350 yards but missed a lot of scoring opportunities. One of the biggest questions coming into the season was the receiving corps. Five receivers had catches in the game and of that group there were two high school quarterbacks, a summer addition to the recruiting class who had no other known offers, and a former walk-on.
Football needs to win back the fans
Immediately after Arizona’s 24-14 loss to Arizona State, Athletic Director Dave Heeke announced Kevin Sumlin would return as head football coach. The Wildcats are just 9-15 in two seasons under Sumlin and he has his work cut out for him if he is to survive season No. 3.
