Baylor Men’s Basketball Slated to Play in Continental Tire Main Event in Las Vegas

Bears will join Virginia, UCLA and Illinois in three-day tournament set for Nov. 18-20 at T-Mobile Arena

Coach Scott Drew and the Baylor men's basketball team will get another opportunity to showcase their talent on the national stage when the Bears join a trio of teams in the 2022 Continental Tire Main Event, slated to be held Nov. 18-20 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Baylor will begin the tournament with a battle against the Virginia Cavaliers on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. Central Time on ESPN2, followed by a showdown between UCLA and Illinois at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

The Bears' game against the Cavaliers is just the second in program history and the first since 1968.

A championship game featuring the two winning teams will be held on Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. CT, while a consolation game will take place at 4:30 p.m. CT. Both games will be televised live on ESPN.

UCLA holds a 3-1 overall record against Baylor, although the last time these two teams met was in 1975.

Illinois also holds a 3-1 record over the Bears, with Baylor winning the last meeting between the two squads in an 82-69 victory on Dec. 2, 2020, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Baylor has already had an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season as the Bears recently represented the United States in the inaugural GLOBL JAM tournament held July 5-10 in Toronto.

Although the Bears began pool play 0-3, they bounced back with a big win over Canada in the semifinals before falling to Brazil in the Gold Medal game.
