Former Baylor QB Gerry Bohanon Ruled Out For Season at USF

Bohanon will undergo shoulder surgery to repair injury sustained in loss to Tulane.

Former Baylor Bears quarterback Gerry Bohanon will miss the remainder of the USF Bulls season to undergo surgery on his shoulder, which he injured in Saturday's loss to Tulane.

Bohanon was in the midst of his first year with the Bulls after transferring from Baylor in the spring. After leading the Bears to both the Big 12 championship and a Sugar Bowl victory in 2021, Bohanon transferred in April after coach Dave Aranda named Blake Shapen the starting quarterback.

After a nightmare start to the season, Bohanon was starting to click with a struggling Bulls team. He threw for 1070 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions in seven games this season. In the last three games, however, he threw for 500 yards, rushed for 250 more, and cleaned up his accuracy, throwing six touchdowns and no picks in that span.

Bohanon was also USF's second-leading rusher on the year, with 386 yards on the ground, including 117 of those yards in a slim 28-24 loss to No. 24 Cincinnati.

In his one year as a starter with the Bears, Bohanon threw for an even 2,200 yards and throwing 18 touchdowns to seven interceptions in 12 starts. The junior also did considerable damage on the ground, like the Bears' offense was built around last year, with nine touchdowns on the ground.
