In-State OL DK Kalu Commits To Baylor

The Bears landed their 20th commitment of the 2023 class on Tuesday

The Baylor Bears have been on fire on the recruiting trail so far this summer, and have no signs of slowing down any time soon.

On Tuesday, that hot streak continued, when the Bears landed a commitment from Ridge Point (Missouri City, TX) defensive end, DK Kalu.

Kalu picked the Bears over offers from SMU, Iowa State, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Houston, TCU, Louisiana, and many more.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Kalu only appeared in two games last season due to injury, however, in his sophomore campaign he was a star, finishing the 2020 season as a unanimous first-team all-district selection.

That season, Kalu finished with 34 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack.

In just two games in 2021, he amassed 16 tackles and two tackles for loss with two pass breakups.

Kalu now joins a class for Baylor that has 20 commitments before the end of June, three of which come along the defensive line alone. Trent Thomas and Jaren Woods also committed in the month of June.

In total, the Bears have nine commitments on the defensive side of the ball, with cornerback Tay'Shawn Wilson, linebackers Christian Brathwaite, Corey Kelly and Taurean York, as well as safeties Cory Huff Jr. and DJ Coleman rounding out the defensive commitments.

The Bears now have 11 total commitments in the month of June alone.
