Opening Line Set For Boston College and Georgia Tech Game

A.J. Black

Boston College returns home on Saturday to face off with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. According to sports betting site Betonline.ag, the opening line favors Boston College at (-3.5). The two teams will battle at Alumni Stadium at 4pm on the ACC Network.

Georgia Tech (2-3) is coming off a huge loss to Clemson 73-7, one of the biggest defeats in program history. However new head coach Geoff Collins has started to right the ship, grabbing two conference victories against Louisville and Florida State. The team is led by true freshman quarterback Jeff Sims, a dual threat who has been responsible for over 1200 yards of offense so far this season.  The Yellow Jacket defense has allowed 35+ points in three out of their last four games.

Boston College is currently 3-2 against the spread this year. They have covered against UNC, Duke, and Pitt, but failed to do so against Virginia Tech and Texas State. This is the first game that the Eagles have been favored in conference, and only the second time this season they haven't been the underdog (Texas State).

Here are some other spreads of note:

Florida State at Louisville (-5)

NC State at UNC (-16.5)

Syracuse at Clemson (-44.5)

Notre Dame (-9.5) at Pitt

Virginia Tech (-7.5) at Wake Forest

Virginia at Miami (-11.5)

Georgia Tech is a hot mess right now, so BC should win this one. If they don't handle the ball well, then expect another loss. But I think BC should win and go into Clemson with an upbeat attitude.

GT narrowly beat us in '08 and '16. We owe them one.

I also really want to go back to Ireland for a BC game. I wonder if that could possibly happen within the next decade.

That 2016 game was the worst, you could see the loss coming a mile away

I think there was a 3rd and 20 or 4th and 20 from their own side of the field on their final scoring drive that was converted. I still shake my head on that.

4th and 19 I want to say (not quibbling), but the most amazing part was Ga Tech at the time was a dedicated triple-option offense that threw maybe 5-7 times per game, or less! It was like having a 75 lb Pop Warner team of 8 yr olds in 4th and 19. NO WAY can they get a 1st down.

Can’t resist telling a quick, admittedly Dad-brag story. My son was that 8 yr old QB. We’re down 3 points w a couple mins left to a team that hasn’t loss in the history of the league (5 years maybe). Of course we run 99% of the time. I was an asst coach and know my son can throw a football (later 3 yr HS varsity starting QB, 1st team All-Region, I-AA offers, played D-III). Anywho, we’re on our own 10 or 15 and I’m yelling at the HC, we HAVE TO pass. We pass 5-6 times in a row, 8, 12, 15 yard chunks, maybe one 20-30 yard pitch and catch, and get to their 10 w maybe 30 secs left. Next two plays, runs, get nothing, we lose. Obviously, burns me to this day. I know, I’m nuts.
