How do you think the conferences deciding to play changes things for BYU? My take is that it is borderline disaster. They are refusing to schedule us. We have to play a schedule that is to weak to impress and we will effectively be locked out of any chance at anything other than a low level bowl

If all bowl games are played, certainly. The criteria be a winning percentage instead of number of wins. The bar to becoming "bowl eligible" probably won't be clear for most of the season...my best guess is that those who win 50% or more of their games will be eligible.

Do you expect that they will change the number of wins to qualify for a bowl game because if they don’t it will decrease the number of teams who can win 6 games if they only play 8

I'm writing an article about this. I wouldn't call it a disaster yet. The Mountain West and PAC-12 are just barely getting their plans off the ground, there's still a long ways to go and their plans need to be executed absolutely perfectly to play 8 games. Does it eliminate the possibility of going to the playoff? Sure, but that was extremely unlikely even with two of the P5 conferences sitting out. I think there's enough unknowns that BYU could still end up playing in a nice bowl game to end the season. If they're undefeated, they might have a shot at a NY6 bowl.
