Cal Women's Basketball Video: A Female Head Coach Someday in NBA? `I Get Chills'

Jeff Faraudo

On the day Cal's Lindsay Gottlieb became the first college women's basketball coach to be hired as an NBA assistant, she was asked whether she could envision a woman someday becoming a head coach in the league.

Gottlieb, who begins her new job with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, stressed that she is thinking only of her position as an assistant to new Cavs' head coach John Beilein. She said she never has taken a job with the idea that it's a stepping stone to another.

But she admitted that even hearing that question -- just the fact that things are progressing toward the point where the idea is not completely ridiculous -- gives her chills.
