Cal Women's Basketball Video: Lindsay Gottlieb Enrolls in a `Master Class'

Jeff Faraudo

For former Cal women's basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb, being hired as an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers was about more than merely the chance to work in the NBA.

She calls the assignment "a master class" in basketball and refers to new Cavs' coach John Beilein as a "genius." For those reasons alone, it was impossible for Gottlieb to turn down the job.

Beilein comes to Cleveland from a 12-year stint as coach at the University of Michigan, where he had a record of 278-150 with nine NCAA tournament bids and two Final Four appearances. The Wolverines won 30 games each of the past two seasons.

In 27 seasons as a Division I head coach, Beilein assembled a record of 571-325.

Any thoughts on who might replace Coach G at Cal? Any rumors about interested coaches? Thanks.
