Cal Football: Bears Get 2020 Commitment from Athlete Justin Baker

Cal received its 19th football commitment for the class of 2020 when athlete Justin Baker committed to Cal on Sunday via Twitter.

Baker, who Kennedy Catholic in Burien, Wash., is short, being listed anywhere from 5-foot-8½ to 5-foot-10. But he has speed, and it is unclear whether he would be a running back or a wide receiver at the college level. He also plays cornerback, but Cal probably needs his big-play potential on offense more.

He is rated the nation’s 937th-best overall recruit in the class and the 16th-best all-purpose back, according to 247Sports.

Baker chose Cal over offers from Arizona, Colorado, Boise State and Air Force.

"Cal’s one of the best schools in the country," Baker told Golden Bear Report back in May, "and they talked a lot about the opportunities not related to football that you get from going there. You go to a lot of these schools, and they’re talking about a 40-year plan, not a four-year one, Cal’s pretty much the best you can get."
