Cal place-kicker Greg Thomas was named the Pac-12 special teams player of the week after making all three field-goal attempts in the Bears' 23-17 victory over North Texas on Saturday.

Thomas hit on field-goal attempts from 32, 44 and 34 yards out and made both extra points for a career-high 11 points.

Thomas has made 7-of-8 field-goal attempts and all seven of his extra points in 2019. His only miss came on a 44-yard attempt in the opener against UC Davis.

He is second in the Pac-12 and tied for eighth nationally with an average of 2.33 field goals made per game.

Cal faces Mississippi in Oxford, Miss., on Saturday.

What a find! Former walk-on wins the job and has turned into a reliable kicker for the Bears.
