Cal Football Video: GA's 4th Child Is on the Way - Should DBs Be Worried?

When secondary coach Gerald Alexander takes off to be with his wife, Justin Wilcox steps into the defensive backs room

Cal assistant coach Gerald Alexander -- affectionately known to his defensive backs as GA -- is about to become a father for the fourth time.

Alexander and his wife, Krystina, have three sons: Kaelin, Kamari and Kaleel. No. 4 is coming soon. Very soon.

When that happens and Alexander steps away from Memorial Stadium for a short time, he will need to be replaced by someone.

"We have a well thought-out game plan, scripted," Wilcox said. "Poor DBs, because if coach GA needs to go be with his family, which he needs to do when that time comes, you know who goes into the DB room. Poor DBs."

Wilcox, of course, played defensive back at Oregon and he relishes the rare opportunity to roll up his sleeves and work with any position group after three years of overseeing the entire program.

"They're probably hoping she has it overnight so coach GA can come back."

Senior safety Trey Turner said no one is worried about Wilcox showing up in their domain because he does it all the time.

"Man, Coach Wilcox sneaks into the room even with GA in the room. It's not our first rodeo with Coach Wilcox. It's always fun and exciting with Coach Wilcox in there," he said.

Turner said the defensive backs aren't the least bit concerned.

I'm looking forward to it, actually, no matter what he says," Turner said. "He's still a fun coach and he knows what he's talking about.

"At the end of the day we're all trying to accomplish the same thing, to go in there and win."
