Cal Football Video: A Hit By Weaver Woke Up WR Jeremiah Hawkins During Scrimmage

Jeremiah Hawkins caught three long passes during Tuesday's scrimmage, suggesting he could be the answer to Cal's desperate need for a big-play threat.

But before he made any of those receptions he failed to catch a pass he had a chance to grab.

"It defintiely woke me up, and after getting hit by (Evan) Weaver); he hit me pretty hard," Hawkins said with a smile late in the above video. "So after that it woke me up."

Hawkins caught a 35-yard pass from Devon Modster amid two defenders and another Cal receiver in the area. He caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Chase Garbers. And he reeled in a 32-yard reception from Robby Rowell.

Hawkins admitted there were too many penalties, "but overall we had a good day for the first day in pads."
