Cal Football Video: Evan Weaver Explains His Two Big Plays on Saturday

Jake Curtis

Cal inside linebacker Evan Weaver had 11 tackles in Saturday's 23-17 win over North Texas, but his two biggest plays did not get recorded as tackles.

The first pivotal play was a pass rush on North Texas quarterback Mason Fine, who was hit as he threw, resulting in an interception by Cal defensive back Traveon Beck.

The second was a hit on North Texas receiver Jyaire Shirter, causing Shorter to drop the pass on a fourth-down play in the final moments of the game. That incompletion assured Cal of the 23-17 victory.

Weaver explains both in the video above, although he appears to have misidentified the North Texas quarterback. Weaver called him Solomon. Oh well.
