Cal Football Video: Evan Weaver on Substitutes in the Game - 'This Is Different'

Jake Curtis

Cal linebacker Evan Weaver made several big plays in Saturday's 23-17 victory over North Texas, including a quarterback hurry that led to an interception and a hit on North Texas' last-gasp fourth-down pass that resulted in an incompletion.

He played the late stages of the game between some teammates who aren't usually on the field, as Cal's top three outside linebackers -- Tevin Paul, Cameron Goode and Ben Hawk Schrider -- were unavailable late in the game.

Weavers was surprised when he noticed different players on either side of him.

"I was like, 'This is different.'"
