Cal Football Video: Patrick Laird Pleased With His Pro-Day Performance

With a transformed body, Laird did particularly well in the agility drills

Players do a lot of preparation for Pro Day, and former Cal running back Patrick Laird noted in the video that the way he transformed his body with his work surprsed some people. Even his mother was impressed. Laird explains what he did in his pre-Pro Day workouts.

Laird was pleased with his performance in Thursday's Pro Day before about 30 pro scouts at Memorial Stadium. In fact, he was told his agility-drills times would have been the best at the Combine.

He calls the 60-yard shuttle the "Walk-on Drill," becasue walk-ons have to do well in that during the summer workouts to make an impression. Laird came to Cal as a walk-on, so he should know. He said he was told by a 49ers scout that his time in the 60-yard shuttle was the best.

Laird is unlilley to be selected in the NFL Draft, which will be held April 25-27, so he presumably will try to make it as a free agent. This in nothing new for Laird, who was not widely recruited out of high school, but ended up rushing for nearly 2,000 yards over his final two seasons at Cal
