Evan Weaver will play his senior season without the presence of his good pal and fellow inside linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk, who graduated in the spring and is attempting to make an NFL roster.
Kunaszyk earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors last season, but was entirely bypassed during the NFL draft before being signed to a free-agent contract by the Carolina Panthers.
Weaver sounded confident when asked about Kunaszyk’s professional prospects. “He’s a great player. Super smart, super heady. I feel he’s going to make a 53-man roster because he’s such a good player,” he said. “And he’s a really good teammate.”
Weaver and Kunaszyk not only combined to make 307 tackles last season, they were big hitters on the podium during postgame news conferences.
Weaver often would take charge with his hilarious banter and stream-of-consciousness monologues while the more reserved Kunaszyk waited his turn to get a word in.
Of course, as you will hear in the video above, Weaver remembers those occasions somewhat differently than we do.
