Former Cal star Andrew Vaughn hit a two-run homer and added a single to lead the Winston-Salem Dash to a 12-3 win over the Salem Red Sox in Carolina League play on Wednesday night.

Vaughn’s home run, in the fifth inning, was his third since being elevated to the Advanced A-league Dash on July 31.

Vaughn finished 2 for 5 and is now batting .237 with 19 RBIs through 25 games.

A two-time All-American at Cal and the national player of the year as a sophomore in 2018, Vaughn was the No. 3 overall pick in the June amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox.

The Santa Rosa native played just three games for the White Sox’s Arizona rookie league team, batting .600, before being promoted to the Low-A Kannapolis Intimidators of the Sally League. He played 23 games for the Intimidators, batting .253 with two home runs and 11 RBIs.
