Eteinne Named Top Back For 2021 NFL Draft

Clemson running back Travis Etienne was named the top prospect at his position for the 2021 NFL Draft by Pro Football Focus.

After not being satisfied with the grade he received after last season from the NFL Draft Advisory Committee, Etienne decided to put off going pro for another year. Instead he will look to finish out a prominent career at Clemson.

Etienne is the back-to-back ACC Player of the Year and is already one of the best running backs in ACC history. With one more season like his last two, Etienne could easily find himself leaving Clemson as the best back ever in the ACC, and the top back off the board come next April.

I am glad Etienne is finally getting some recognition. There were strong arguments that he was the best back last year, including yardage per carry and yardage after initial contact, both of which should have counted for more than they apparently did. Some may argue that he was not subjected to the wear and tear of other backs, but I think that should make him more attractive as a draft choice.
