Remember When UConn Was Rumored to Join the ACC? Yikes

Brad Senkiw

About a decade ago, there were rumors that UConn wanted in the ACC. That died down after the league (wisely) went a different direction. Now, SI's Pat Forde paints an incredibly bleak picture of a Huskies athletic program rife with poor decision-making. Would joining the ACC have saved UConn or would the ACC have been looking to cut ties with a disastrous athletic department? We'll never know, but check this out:

I never liked the idea of them bringing Edsall back to begin with.... Sad

Soccer (2): 1984, 1987
Football (3): 1981, 2016, 2018”

“ Connecticut has won 22 NCAA team national championships.[18]

Basketball (4): 1999, 2004, 2011, 2014
Soccer (2): 1981, 2000

Field Hockey (5): 1981, 1985, 2013, 2014, 2017”

Yup, UConn’s athletic department is a disaster, not well rounded at all.....Dabo gets you good for a few years and suddenly you’re entitled. UConn in the ACC would have had more national titles in just football and men’s basketball than Clemson and would be clearly a better addition than just about anyone behind Norte Dame that has been added in past 20 years. Convince me otherwise.
