Once again, Florida's fierce defensive line is getting some recognition.

BUCK defensive ends Jonathan Greenard and Mohamoud Diabate received SEC Player of the Week honors following their performances against Vanderbilt this past Saturday. The Gators (8-2, 5-2 SEC) shut the Commodores (2-7, 1-5 SEC) out by a score of 56-0.

Greenard, with three tackles and a fumble recovery that he returned 80 yards for a touchdown, was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week. Pro Football Focus considers all three of Greenard's tackles as "stops" - a tackle that constitutes a failure for the offense.

Diabate, who recorded three sacks and forced the fumble that Greenard scored on, was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on defense.

The true freshman filled in for rotating BUCK end Jeremiah Moon, who was ruled out for the season with a foot injury late last week. Diabate took advantage of his opportunity, with all three sacks coming on third down. His strip-sack came on Vanderbilt's only redzone drive of the day, locking in Florida's shut-out win.

Both defensive ends will face a challenge in Missouri this week, against dual-threat quarterback Kelly Bryant. The Gators travel to Columbia, Missouri to face the Tigers at noon on Saturday.

Greenard recently accepted an invite to the 2020 Senior Bowl, and Diabate has proven himself as a young cornerstone for this Florida football team off of the edge. Expect more awards to come in his way as he carves out a bigger role in the Florida defense in the future.
