If you are a fan of big wide receivers, this Gator recruiting class should please. Ja’Quavion Fraziars stands 6-3. This added size will help the Gators combat a trend of bigger cornerbacks around the Southeastern Conference.

Fraziars is not your typical tall receiver. The Dunnelon, FL product plays as much like a tight end when he catches the ball as about any wide receiver one could imagine. A chiseled frame that might surpass 205-pounds by this point, Fraziars could be a huge weapon for the Gators.

Fraziars possesses the leg drive to power through defenders like a running back, but he’s also adept at splitting defenders in the open field. The question will be, where do the Gators line him up?

Could the big receiver play outside and even some slot? He’s a good enough athlete, but a lot could depend upon his ability to pick up the play book. Fraziars will also be a weapon as a blocker because of his strength - an area in which the Gators emphasize at receiver.

Smaller defensive backs will struggle with Fraziars’ size and power. He’s too big to arm tackle, and he will gain extra yardage after the catch. He can also surprise in the open field. While smaller defensive backs usually make up for their lack of height with speed. Fraziars also possesses the speed to make plays down the field.

Combining his speed with the ability to out-muscle opponents during jump ball situations, and it’s no wonder why Florida wanted Fraziars in its recruiting class.

One of the items he will need to work on will be consistently catching the ball away from his chest and body. Fraziars’ big hands will be an asset moving forward, but he must be far more aggressive when passes come towards him. That leads to route running.

Fraziars is great at quickly turning to find the ball during a simple hitch route, and he’s quick in and out of his breaks during routes. Overall, he’s just a great athlete that the Gators are fortunate to land.

Here’s a podcast discussing Fraziars and fellow wide receiver recruit Leonard Manuel, 6-4, 190, Fort Lauderdale, FL (Stranahan).
