Freshman WR Standout Talks Early UGA Recruitment

Freshman WR standout, Peyton Zachary, talks about his recent recruitment from UGA and what he is looking at in a program to join.

Kell High School, located in Marietta, Ga, isn’t known for producing Power 5 football players every year, and for the 2026 class, wide receiver Peyton Zachary is part of a new wave of Longhorns set to break that trend.

Within the last month, Zachary has received offers from UGA, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. UGA receiver's coach Bryan McLendon is known for recruiting big, tall, and long receivers, and although the 5' 7" receiver doesn't fit the mold yet, he says that coach McLendon 'wants me to develop and has trust in me." With the recent changes to the Bulldogs' offense, Zachary looks to see how the Dawgs' passing game will do and "how far they can get this year."

The University of Tennessee is another school that recently offered Zachary, where he mentioned that the Volunteers." know he has a long time to develop." The Vol's passing game has flourished in the last two years, most recently WR Jaylin Hyatt having a breakout season in 2022. "I think about that a lot, actually, with my recruitment," Zachary stated, " what the passing yards were and what they do on offense."

Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss Rebels is another team known for their passing game and offensive creativity. "Ole Miss is top 5; they like to throw a lot," Zachary emphasized. Kiffin, who has an electric character, also has an electric passing offense, gathering 3,117 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns in the 2022 season.

Recruiting this standout freshman will be difficult with three more years ahead of his high school career. But, with Zachary being right in the Dawgs' backyard, expect a lot of time to be spent between the two.
