Georgia lost out on the #1 TE in the country, Arik Gilbert commits to LSU

Arik Gilbert, the nation’s top TE announced he’d be making his commitment known today during the All-American jersey reveal at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Ga.

His commitment to Georgia seemed like a foregone conclusion for the majority of his recruitment process and after his official visit Saturday in Athens, he announced he’d be making his commitment known today during the All-American jersey reveal at the College Football Hall of Fame here in Atlanta, Georgia.

And today, it’s bad news for Georgia fans everywhere, Gilbert announced today that he’d be playing his college ball at LSU.

Though Georgia was in the running as early as this morning according to our sources.

Gilbert is one of a few highly touted TE prospects from the 2020 cycle that Georgia was after. Darnell Washington and Theo Johnson have yet to announce their decisions.

Arik Gilbert plays alongside fellow D1 commits and one time Georgia targets, Harrison Bailey and BJ Ojulari at Marietta high school in Cobb County, Georgia. Both Bailey and Ojulari are committed to Tennessee.

Gilbert has amassed over 2600 career yards at Marietta high, with 28 total touchdowns.

LSU comes as a shock to most in the recruiting world.

Most had the recruitment down to two schools, Alabama and Georgia. With majority of crystal ball predictions landing with Alabama.

Kirby smart and staff still have a lot of work left to do in the 2020 recruiting cycle  Tight Ends and running backs are the primary area of concern.
