Jordan Burch, at one point, was the nation's top overall prospect in the 2020 class before being surpassed by Brian Bresee. Now the second-ranked player, Burch is the highest-ranked uncommitted player in the class. And he's released his Top-5 in alphabetical order:

Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, and South Carolina.

We've been told for quite some time that the most influential role throughout this recruitment process has been Burch's mother. She has a rightful impact on where he will end up playing his college ball, so to see LSU land in the South Carolina phenom's top-5 is a testament to his visit this past weekend in Baton Rouge.

Clemson has seemingly occupied the top spot in Burch's commitment, with Georgia and South Carolina chasing the Tigers tail's. However, Burch is expected to take the remainder of his official visits so there's plenty of time left in the process for minds to change.

Our inclination here at The Bulldog Maven is the odds for Burch's commitment go as follows:

  • 40% - Clemson
  • 25% - South Carolina
  • 25% - Georgia
  •  5% - LSU
  •  5% -  Alabama

Look, no one truly knows what Burch and his family are thinking about the upcoming decision. He's been one of the more quiet targets in the entire class. And if you watch him play, it makes sense. He doesn't appear to be one of these young men that are concerned about the "brand" just yet.

For Burch, the brand is football and playing it hard. So, the idea of media coverage just isn't something he's prone to. However, our educated guess at this point is that Clemson being the stature of in-state program that they are gives them the lead.

And South Carolina being in Burch's backyard has kept them in the race, but Athens Georgia is just a little over 2 and a half hours from Columbia, and it's not a bad drive down I-20. We expect Burch to be on campus at least one more time for an official visit, so perhaps the commute will seem a little more natural come commitment time.
