Top Four Quarterbacks in Kansas State History

Kelly Thompson

Here we looked at the top four quarterbacks in Kansas State history.

Will Skylar Thompson work his way on to the list in the next year and a half?

Who did we miss? What rankings did we get wrong?

If Freeman would've had Bill coaching him, he could be at the top of this list. Prince could F up a cup of coffee. His lack of calling QB sneaks with Freeman under center when we only needed 2 inches used to drive me crazy!

Let's be real. Dickey shared the backfield with Larry Brown (Redskins) and Mack Hereon (eagles) with Clarence Scott in the D backfield. One of the most talented or probably THE best backfield in EMAW history. Plus his success at next level numero uno.

Freeman? Are you kidding? Snyder Era:

  1. Bishop
  2. Roberson
  3. Klein
  4. Beasley
  5. May
  6. Freeman (dude played on 1 team with a winning record)

Rationale and biases: Made next level, impact at each level, tenure. Bishop got within a whisker of taking the Cats to a national championship game. He does that, win or lose I'm putting him no. 1. But his fumbles vs A&M killed us.

Dickey had a long NFL career, Grogan not quite as long but had some very good years with the Pats.

Your top three have to be the three Heisman finalists--Bishop, Klein, and Dickey. I go with Grogan as #4 just because of a Mississippi State defensive player I used to work with: "He was the toughest mofo I ever tried to hit"

What does Thompson have to do to make the list?

Top 3 are correct, I’d put Roberson over Freeman.

I no particular order: Dickey, Bishop, Klein, Grogan - Dickey and Grogan were great quarterbacks on teams that weren't so great. But both went on to have long careers in the NFL. Bishop was the most physically talented of them all but his NFL career was short. Klein, no NFL career but a great QB and a stellar QB coach.
