LSU junior safety JaCoby Stevens has had a phenomenal two week spurt on the field and the SEC has taken notice.
On Monday morning Stevens earned his second straight SEC Defensive Player of the Week award for his 10 tackle performance against Auburn Saturday.
Stevens won the award for the first time in his career following a eight tackle performance against Mississippi State that included a sack and an impressive one-handed interception.
In his third year for the Tigers, Steven's role has expanded exponentially and the junior is taking advantage, recording 49 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions in eight appearances for LSU in 2019.
The defense forced Auburn into four straight three-and-outs in the second half Saturday, a performance that still left Stevens upset after the game because it did surrender 10 points in the second half.
"There's been second halves where we've shut teams out," Stevens said. "Until we do that again, I feel like we can play better in the second half or in any half."
