Three Things the Hurricanes can fix to get Back on Track

The Miami Hurricanes suffered another humiliating defeat on Saturday, this time to Virginia Tech 42-35. N'Kosi Perry came off the bench in relief of Jarren Williams and almost led an epic comeback.
However, it would not be enough and Miami now stands at 2-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
So, how can they turn it around and get out of the ACC Coastal cellar?
Balance the Scales
As mentioned here Miami offensive coordinator Dan Enos only called six running plays in the first half against Virginia Tech.
Yes the Hurricanes were down big, but it was early. A major reason for the deficit was three early interceptions by Williams.
Perhaps more balanced play calling when things started to go downhill could have benefitted Williams and the offense.
Tackle Somebody, Anybody
Once again the defense was sloppy in their execution, repeatedly looking confused and out of position. The linebackers look a step slow and the pass rush is non-existent.
Hendon Hooker was starting his first game and had plenty of time to dissect the Hurricanes defense while sitting back there enjoying a colada.
Opposing quarterbacks have no pressure and can pick apart a depleted Miami secondary. The defense under Blake Baker is very vanilla, they have to start bringing more pressure from the second and third levels.
Show up Early
The Hurricanes have been outscored 45-20 in the first quarter through five games this season. Early malaise and poor execution on both sides of the ball have put the team on the ropes early.
To see Miami fall down 28-0 in the first half against Virginia Tech - at home after a bye week to prepare is a bad look for Manny Diaz and his coaching staff.
The Hokies are not what they once were but Bud Foster's defense looked as good as ever against an overmatched offensive line. Williams tendency to hold on to the football just a bit too long is beginning to hinder him, he must take what the defense gives him and move the chains.
This will help not only the offense move the ball and produce points, it will give an often beleaguered defense a break.
