One of Michigan’s top remaining targets in the 2020 class, Delran, NJ four-star ATH RJ Moten is set to announce his commitment on July 27 at 12:00PM ET.
Moten is expected to be in attendance for the football staff’s “BBQ at the Big House” on the same day, so this is music to the ears of Michigan fans.
An athlete in every sense of the term, Moten excels on both the football field and the baseball diamond. While he plays both ways for Delran High School, the Wolverines are recruiting him as a safety.
Physical enough to help against the run, he also has the speed to cover sideline-to-sideline. Michigan offered Moten on April 30, and he took an unofficial visit to campus in June.
“It was amazing,” he told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich about the trip. “I sat in meetings with coach (Chris) Partridge and coach (Don) Brown then with coach (Jim) Harbaugh. I went out with freshmen Joey Velazquez and Cade McNamara.”
Primarily recruited by Partridge, all eight of Moten’s Crystal Ball predictions are to the Wolverines. Partridge is continuing to cement his reputation as one of the nation’s top recruiters. In the 2020 class alone, he led the charge on four-star safety Jordan Morant’s commitment and assisted Anthony Campanile on three-star athlete William Mohan.
Thanks to the work of Partridge and the rest of the staff, Michigan has been able to compose a 22-man class that ranks No. 7 nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten, according to the 247 Composite.
All signs are pointing toward Moten becoming the 11th four-star in this cycle for Michigan. Once his commitment becomes official, he will be the third member of the class to hail from New Jersey, joining Morant and three-star defensive end Aaron Lewis.
