EAST LANSING, Mich. - After starting the season 0-3, Michigan State junior Ryan Basham (Lowell, Ind.) helped the Spartan baseball team even its record to 3-3 last week, picking up two wins against Lehigh (6-3, 15-6) and one over Sacred Heart (8-2). Playing three games in three days, Basham hit .583 (7-for-12) with a home run, two doubles and seven RBI. A preseason all-conference pick by Baseball America, the weekly honor is Basham's first of his career.
In game one against Lehigh, Basham was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI and a day later vs. Sacred Heart, hit 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. In the final game of the week against Lehigh, Basham unloaded his first home run of the season while going 3-for-5 and setting a career-high with five RBI. Producing a hit in each of MSU's seven games this season, Basham has extended his hitting streak to 21 games, which dates back to May 7, 2005. Courtesy of MSU.
