Spartans to Honor Ron Perranoski at First Pitch Dinner

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State baseball program will honor Ron Perranoski as its Alumnus of the Year when it hosts the fifth annual First Pitch Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010.

 

The event will be held at the Spartan Club on the fourth floor of Spartan Stadium and will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

 

Perranoski lettered for the Spartans from 1956-58 before embarking on a successful 13-season Major League Baseball career. He won two World Series titles with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1963, ‘65) and led American League in saves in 1969 (31) and 1970 (34) while playing for the Minnesota Twins. The New Jersey-native also won two World Series championships as a pitching coach for the Dodgers.

 

The event will also feature a silent auction and door prizes. Attendees will also receive a 2010 season ticket card, media guide and poster.

 

Tickets for the First Pitch Dinner range in price from $20 per person for children and students to $50 each for adults. Family packages and sponsored tables of eight are also available.
