The Magic Man Named Big Ten ICON #2

The Big Ten Network has been counting down the top 50 ICONS from the Big Ten for all time. Today they announced that Earvin MAGIC Johnson was #2 all time in the category. Earvin of course is known more for winning the 1979 NCAA men’s basketball championship against Larry Bird around the Spartan Nation than anything else.  That game was the most watched of ALL TIME.

He of course went on to accumulate many NBA awards including five titles and three MVPs. He was a member of the first and true Olympic dream team. He also won a state title playing basketball for Lansing Everett High School.

Because of his winning at every possible level and what he means to the Spartan Nation, Earvin had a statue of Morgan Freeman erected in his honor outside the Breslin Center. Well I guess it was supposed to be of him, but evidently the designer had no clue what Earvin looked like.Â
