Tom Izzo Does It Again: Adreian Payne Will Bring His Game to East Lansing in 2010

The Michigan State Basketball program added superstar power-forward / center Adreian Payne to the class of 2010. Payne who hails from Dayton, Ohio (Jefferson) is considered by most recruiting publications as a national top 20 recruit and among the top two players in the talent rich state of Ohio. At 6’10” and 215 pounds, Payne’s game is fluid, smooth and full of collegiate potential.

Payne chose the Spartans over a group of traditional basketball powers that included Kentucky, West Virginia, and Arizona. Adreian will provide the Spartan Nation with more details of his decision during this evening’s press conference.

Payne’s commitment will likely give the Spartans another top-5 nationally ranked class. Payne will join a group of 2010 standouts that include Detroit’s Keith Appling, Fort Wayne’s Russell Byrd, and Eaton Rapids power-forward Alex Gauna.

Payne follows a long line of Ohio talent to MSU. Current MSU forwards Raymar Morgan and Delvon Roe were both Ohio grown as were former standouts Travis Walton, Andre Hutson and A.J. Granger. The Ohio pipeline continues to deliver recruiting victories for coach Izzo and his staff. With commitments like Payne, MSU remains in the driver’s seat as the program to beat in the Big Ten Conference and assures them of many deep runs in the NCAA tournament for years to come.

More details will follow surrounding Adreian’s commitment tomorrow. Congratulations Adreian on your pledge to MSU. The Spartan Nation anxiously awaits your arrival.
