Neitzel Selected As Finalist For Senior CLASS AwardSpartan fans can vote for Neitzel on-line. EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s basketball senior guard Drew Neitzel was selected one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. Ten finalists were selected from a list of 30 candidates based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete. The four primary areas of criteria include: classroom, community, character and competition.Joining Neitzel as men’s finalists are Jaycee Carroll (Utah State), Shan Foster (Vanderbilt), A.J. Graves (Butler), Roy Hibbert (Georgetown), Chris Lofton (Tennessee), DeMarcus Nelson (Duke), Brian Roberts (Dayton), Sean Singletary (Virginia) and Peyton Stovall (Ball State).The finalists will be placed on the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award ballot for a nationwide vote concluding March 21. Fan balloting, available on the award’s official web site www.seniorclassaward.com will be combined with votes from coaches, media and sponsors to determine the recipient of the award. The Winner will be announced at the Final Four in San Antonio, Texas. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award was launced during the 2001-02 season in response to the trend of college basketball players leaving college early to turn professional. The award was conceived by sportscaster Dick Enberg, who continues to serve as Honorary Chairman.
