Yes! I’m so excited about Spartans football this season!! Another great victory last weekend over PITT shows the Spartans playing precise gridiron football and saw Spartans playing each quarter with intensity and spirit in a move that was a stark contrast from last season; a season which in a game like that, the Spartans would have lost. Needless to say, the Spartans are 3-0 flying into South Bend to play for the mighty...er, megaphone? Well it’ll be great to see if the Irish can buckle up their chinstraps and actually play a game this weekend against a fired up Spartan team. Watch for freshman stud Greg Jones to have a day as he trades snaps at linebacker.

Â
Fresh from Cincinnati, Ohio’s Archbishop Moeller High School, Greg Jones is a strong presence in the Spartan’s linebacker corp. Jones, ranked in the top 50 seniors in the state of Ohio (No. 16), has quick speed and powerful strength that makes for thundering hits. Expect this exciting young player to see more game time while he proves himself as the season progresses on a team with many talented underclassmen. Jones, who shares underclassmen status with fellow Spartan sidekick Jon “The Missile” Misch, flies to the ball, creates plays, and not to mention, delivers bone-crushing hits.

Â
Although only a freshman Jones has transitioned over into the Big Ten with ease. Last week against PITT Jones showcased an exceptional performance by grabbing a career high two tackles for losses and also recorded his second sack of the season. Jones ended the day with five tackles and left Spartan fans longing for more. Watch for Jones in the backfield showing off his tremendous quickness that allows him to get to the quarterback and make big plays.

Â
With the help of these young talents such as Greg Jones, the Spartans look good heading into this one. Charlie Weis will be eating some of his words this weekend as the Spartans sail past the Fighting Irish, 18-0, and you can count on Jones to be right at the top in Sportscenter type hits and plays!

Â
He many not be a household name yet, but in the Spartan Nation it has only taken three games for us to expect some punishing hits and outstanding plays from Jones. Now it is the Irish turn to get a dose of this. Notre Dame may waive their freshman QB in the worlds face, but we will put our freshman LB in his.
