Mark Dantonio landed his thirteenth commitment for the 2011 class this morning. The Spartans picked up a young man from Silver Springs, Maryland, named Darien Harris. Harris will play the STAR LB at MSU.

Harris had Coach Ted Gill as his main recruiter and was very impressed. “He was a great coach, but even better, a fabulous person. That is what the coaches at MSU are like.” Harris at the STAR spot can use his abundant speed to cover guys out for passes as well as run support and blitzing.

This youngster is well rounded and saw the classroom emphasis placed by the Spartans as a key to making his commitment. “First and foremost I have to get a degree for me and my family. Going to college is about that degree. I like that the staff keeps their word about academics and athletics and who wouldn’t want to play in the best conference in America in the Big Ten.”

Harris had an aunt that got her master’s degree from MSU. You can hear more from Harris tonight on Spartan Nation Radio.
