Spartans Add Commitment #9 For 2010 and The Second Ohio OL in the Past 12 Hours!

Coming into today there was a lot of attention being given to this weekend for MSU Football. The Spartans had seven commitments, all from Michigan and kids and things were going well. So what would you call it now?

Spartan Nation learned via email from sources close to Michael Dennis that he has committed this evening to the Spartan Nation and Coach Dantonio. He is the second Ohio OL to join the Spartan Nation in the last 12 hours. He is from Carey, Ohio.

Dennis also plays TE in high school, but he is primarily seen as an OT. With continued production he could get a look, but the emphasis is on the OL. Dennis a big framed 6’7” player who weights about 265 pounds.

His commitment tonight was a pleasant surprise. He is very strong and has the technical skills to play the OT position at the Big Ten level. Although small in frame at 265 pounds, he was the physique to carry at about the 315 weight and will do well with another year of high school and a year of red shirting under the watchful eye of Coach Mannie.

The Spartans two new OL commits could very well start a run on the last few spots for the OL for the 2010 class. Dennis was highly sought after around the country despite his coming from a smaller school, but that means nothing. He has all of the tools to make the big plays and is a big time player. Following his “New tradition” Dantonio continues to add quality players from the Michigan and Ohio and Dennis is also a very good student.

He has a very good ability to drive block and is considered an above average run blocker. He also has a high motor and often times get to the second and third block. Something that is considered a must in college, but rarely seen in high school.

As stated previously, the Spartan have a HUGE one-day camp on Saturday that runs from 12:30 pm until 6:30 pm and there are several highly sought after young men in that group. Look for the Spartans to add to their already nine commitments soon.

Here is a list of the other eight young men that Dennis is joining for the 2010 class.
